Launch of The Family Office Playbook and the First Anniversary of the Hong Kong Family Office Nexus
I am delighted to share the official launch of The Family Office Playbook and to celebrate the first anniversary of the Hong Kong Family Office Nexus, a strategic partnership between the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and Bloomberg. This significant milestone marks another solid step forward in Hong Kong’s journey to becoming a global hub for family offices. Through our strategic collaboration with Bloomberg, we are positioning Hong Kong as an international focal point for wealth management and legacy planning, capturing global attention.
Today’s release of The Family Office Playbook is a comprehensive guide tailored for family offices, offering a clear roadmap for those planning to establish or expand their operations in Hong Kong. It covers practical advice on strategy formulation, navigating the regulatory environment, investment management, operational efficiency, and wealth succession and philanthropy. The guide highlights Hong Kong’s unique strengths—our robust financial markets, transparent regulatory framework, and strategic position as a bridge between the Mainland and the global market. This is more than just a guide; it is a heartfelt invitation from Hong Kong to family offices worldwide to seize the opportunities we offer.
Since its inception a year ago, the Hong Kong Family Office Nexus has become a powerful engine in fostering the development of Hong Kong’s family office ecosystem. Our partnership with Bloomberg has enabled us to integrate global resources, providing family offices with a digital knowledge hub, professional insights, and a platform for exchange. Our digital knowledge hub has attracted over 4,000 views globally, reflecting Hong Kong’s strong appeal in the global wealth management arena.
Even more exciting is the tangible progress we’ve made. Invest Hong Kong has successfully assisted over 200 family offices to set up or expand in Hong Kong, achieving the target set in the 2022 Policy Address ahead of schedule. These family offices have brought capital, talent, and business opportunities to Hong Kong, driving economic diversification. As announced in last month’s Policy Address, we have set a new goal to attract an additional 220 family offices between 2026 and 2028. This will further solidify Hong Kong’s position as a global asset and wealth management hub, injecting fresh vitality into our economy.
At the same time, we celebrate the second anniversary of the Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy. Over the past two years, the Academy has hosted more than 20 capacity-building events, engaging over 3,100 family asset owners and next-gen leaders, establishing itself as a key platform for wealth legacy knowledge sharing in Hong Kong. From the iLink Online philanthropy platform to the donation of public art installation and various collaborative initiatives, the Academy connects wealth, culture, and societal impact in innovative ways, promoting sustainable development of the industry.
Our strategic partnership with Bloomberg has been instrumental in realising these achievements. By combining Bloomberg’s global network and technological expertise with Hong Kong’s policy support, we have created an ecosystem that fosters the growth of family offices. For instance, in early October, Bloomberg and the Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy jointly held an impactful storytelling workshop, equipping family office spokespersons with practical skills to share their stories and enhance their influence. These initiatives not only facilitate knowledge exchange but also position Hong Kong at the forefront of wealth management innovation.

Through policies like the New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, we provide comprehensive support to wealth owners, ensuring their success in Hong Kong.
